About Suggesting Group “Favorites”: Feel free to suggest faves on things relating to the club members, especially humorous and/or chibi works, and especially anything that has to do with the club itself. Please keep in mind, I won’t be accepting anything crass/dirty/inappropriate, anything shounen ai/BL/yaoi, anything explicitly shota (or anything I personally find scary), or basically anything I don’t really like. Sorry.

Q: How did you come up with MABC?
A: My big sister and I had eaten too much Tamagoyaki and were having a giggle-fit over the visual image of several anime-boy-protagonists sitting in a bar, drowning their sorrows ginger ale (the drink of under-aged kings) and comparing notes about their sad lives. I honestly don’t remember which one of us started this silliness, but a few days later, I began drawing the first comic as a joke for Nee-chan. Since then, she’s been the most encouraging and gratifying reader imaginable, laughs manically at all the right moments, and gets every single obscure joke I throw in.
Q: Why isn’t Such-and-So Miserable Boy from Thus-and-Such Anime/Manga/Game/Novel in the club?
A: That’s nearly always because I haven’t seen Such-and-So’s Anime, read Such-and-So’s Manga, etc. Though, on occasion, I have but don’t enjoy the character enough to include him.
Q: It’s a club full of boys! Why don’t you ever use BL/Shounen Ai/Yaoi humor?
A: ‘Cause I don’t like it.
Q: You haven’t updated in a while. Has the club been disbanded?
A: Never! At least, probably not. I started drawing MABC for fun. When it’s no longer fun, I intend to stop. Until then, I draw another comic whenever I have a funny idea and time permits me to work on it. It’s lengthy process, mostly because my drawing speed closely resembles the speed of a snail crawling through molasses.
Q: Could you make a Miserable Anime Girls Club?
A: Off the top of my head, I can only think of about three legitimately miserable anime girls. I mean, they tend to be kinda overwhelmingly cheerful, doncha’ think? Probably balancing out their angsted male counterparts… So, no. Thanks for asking.
Q: Can I suggest a member for the club?
A: Suggest away! Just keep in mind: I add all the miserable boys I personally like from shows I watch, so if your suggested character isn’t in the club, he likely never will be.
Q: Seriously, who is the chibi that looks exactly like L from Deathnote?!
A: …Seriously, I have no clue who you’re referring to.
